    Default The other Partizan.

Well another one under the belt. it was strange running the show without some of the stalwarts like Chris and Simon this year.
Nevertheless, ably abetted by Reg and the good Captain Kiwi, who ran two games for me whilst I was talking to punters, the show went off very well. We got more players than usual, and at a guess more questioning interested parties than I recall, although as Chris usually manages this side of things only he could tell for sure.
One thing that was obvious from players and bystanders alike was the cry " where can we get the starter sets. Maybe Ares should reflect upon the fact that no one will buy the ships unless they can play the game!
I will post a few photos tomorrow as soon as I have processed them.
i must also thank the Inimitable Tim *Flying Helmut* and "Joshame Gibbs" our own Chris Lambert who ran the Wings table between them all day.

The Business of the commander-in-chief is first to bring an enemy fleet to battle on the most advantageous terms to himself, (I mean that of laying his ships close on board the enemy, as expeditiously as possible); and secondly to continue them there until the business is decided.

Beginners could probably manage with a couple of ships, if they downloaded the rules from the Ares website and bought a pack of Additional Ship Mats and a Pack of Additional Counters, although the latter are hard to find.

However, I agree with you that Ares are constantly 'shooting themselves in the foot' by not having an available supply of starter sets for all their products.

    Too many Chris.
All I could advise was something similar to what Dave has just said.
I did plug Entoyment but they may be running out by now as well!

Yes it was that fast. One pass.
Still it drew the first flow of punters in.

The next two games were nearly as quick.
We got in four games before lunch.
I will try to get them posted tomorrow.

That is indeed good news Dave.

I have been trying to work out how we could get a couple of Starter sets to loan out to punters at shows. Something like they put the money down, take it away to try it for a week or two. If they don't send it back and regain 90% of the cost. not quite sure if there would be any mileage in something like that or not. Some of us may be able to do it through our club members. !0 loans out and it would be paid for.

It was very gratifying to have so many interested parties Chris. Quite a few wanted to know how they could use Langton ships with our rules for quicker play. But more on that subject later.

    Some more of the action.

    Nice action, Rob.

...but I can see only the bow rake picture vs. the Kiwi.

I think there are some starter set copies left in Europe, but I would not sum it up in the section „easy available“.

That my dear Comte was all it took, with the double fire and only one action possible because of crew attrition he burned down the two remaining boxes.
