Thank you gentleman. I am at a loss though. What did I do to deserve such a promotion? Not that I'm complaining, I assure you.

Promotions are just a fun way of keeping up with the number of posts one makes. You move up fast at first but it slows down requiring a greater number of posts as you move to higher ranks.

Thanks Bobby. So what do the insignia represent. I have one bar, Eric has two. You have two stars. What are the ranks? Landsman, Ordinary Seaman, Midshipman, 4th Lt.. 3rd Lt., 2nd Lt., 1st Lt., Master, Captain, Commodore, Rear Admiral, Admiral, etc.? This could get to be fun.

    Landsman - nothing
Ordinary Seaman - one bar (24 posts)
Able Seaman - two bars (50 posts)
Midshipman - one star (100 posts)
    2nd Lieutenant - two stars (500 posts)

1st Lieutenant should be next, but I don't know what Keith has planned as to how many posts it will take to reach that rank. Of course there was actually only the rank of Lieutenant and 1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc. was their position in the chain of command aboard their assigned ship. I think 1000 would be appropriate point to become a 1st Lieutenant, but on the Aerodrome site a Captain, 500 posts, does not promote to Major until 2500 posts. I guess we will see when someone gets there. The ranks after Lieutenant should be Master and Commander (or just Commander) and then Captain. After that we will have to wait and see how high the ranks will go, but that will take a lot of posts.
