French fleet. Langton 1/1200

I finally finished this squadron of French ships.
It is composed of three generic boats 80, 76 and 74 guns.

Very nice. What material do you use for the rigging. I have 4 unmade langtons and fancy giving it a bash.

Hello, I use cotton thread Gütermann brand, it is thin and doesn't fray.
After placing the thread, step superglue to stay stiff cotton. Finally, I paint the rope.

Great work, but I can't tell any differences between them unless I study their sterns. Perhaps painting a topmast a lighter color on one and a replaced yard or two on another?

if you see them in person, they have notable differences. The French hulls had many forms, some were long, others were wider and shorter. These are details that maybe in the photos are not noticeable. Anyway I'll remember your advice for future boats (maybe I'm too conservative).

You do fantastic work. Work I could never do. But it's like visiting the new WWII museum in New Orleans:



Notice how pristine the "models" are. Not one speck of dirt, or sloppy painting, or scratches or anything to tell you that they actually were in combat or even actually driven down a road once. It was a big turn off for me. Those machines went through hell, and should show that. They didn't look that good coming off the assembly line!
