Default Encounter on a Lee Shore (solo AAR attempt)

After having a lot of work the past few week and helping gut and redocorate my daughters flat I finally got some time to myself..

Played this solo, in the sense I played both sides, from the scenario contest supplement. Generally, my brain helps me out here as I forget quite quickly what maneuvers I had planned! I don't know why but the coastline and shoals didn't really come into play at all. First attempt at this (just seen the images are too small will rectify this. I can'r view the images from my own account when logged in? When not logged in they view fine?).

Really enjoyed this. Will try some of the other solo AIs but really looking forward to playing 2 player. A gaming friend has promised a couple of games over the christmas break.

Genereux in place of Droits de l'Homme (DLH).

HMS Leopard in place of HMS Indefatigable , HMS Terpsichore in place of HMS Amazon.

The start position (high wind from west to east). DLH sailing backing sails sailing NNW on a port tack. The English decied to split forces (!?) with Indefatigable trying to draw fire while Amazon gets behind for a raking shot.

DLH seeing the English mistake uses the wind to her advantage to quickly come about to come at Amazon loaded with doubled shotted canons. Indefatigable takes a long range shot, starting a fire aboard DLH (must've hit a lantern or two)

DLH makes a sharp larboard turn to bring the Amazon into a raking broadside double shotted. The marines in the tops try to add to the mess but the colision puts their aim off.

Attempting to gain the weather gage, the DLH swings NNW again and raises to battle sails. Indefatigable, having turned to sail SW and being too late to the aid of Amazon, attempts to engage, both ships swapping long range broadsides. Indefatigable suffers a broken mast while another fire starts aboard the DLH.

An interesting encounter Scott, and a very good illustration of why you should not reveal your intentions to the enemy whilst they still have time to react.
    Thanks for posting this action.

Thanks Rob. I've missed not having anything to post! Any idea why I can't see the images from my own account on here?

ok, so I logged out and then logged back in. Can see the images and their huge. Is there a way of just putting a smaller 'thumbnail' into the main post and then when clicked on it brings up a larger version I wonder?

The problem must be in the way you are having it saved to your file. I checked your account and all the correct boxes are ticked.
Try opening up a photo album. Download the picture to that and then load from there onto this thread as a trial to see if that interim stage makes any difference rather than just loading the raw picture.

What I do with my photo posts is to put them through photoshop and reduce them in size a bit.

yes, I'll do similar. Part of the problem was I couldn't see the images once I'd posted them so didn't have much idea how they looked. On my phone the relative size of the images is much smaller in comparison to the text etc

Always a problem when loading from phone. I'm glad this old dinosaur still uses the Desktop computer. With my eyesight I need a huge screen.

No way I could do it from phone! I sent images to laptop first. I'm wondering if powerpoint might be a good way do to AARs. Found it a bit cumbersome on the forum but I guess you get used to it.

I write my AAR on office and post the pictures into it. Then post the picture from the files and add the relevent text by copying it to the picture. I'm wondering if it would work better by using Photoshop to add the text to the picture. May try that sometime.
