Wikipedia is a wealth of good (usually cross linked) information. I've been using that very page to refresh my memory on a lot of this as I've been getting excited for the game to come out.

Similarly a lot of major engagements have their Order of Battle on Wikipedia

They are nice places to get ship lists and classes, and many ships have links to their own pages to detail where the ship served and fought. This will be great when we get the list of second-side ships to see what French and English ships we have may have faced each other and work out some historic scenarios.
