Very nicely done. Nice water effects. You must build other types of models.

The ship looks really great Charles, everything very crisp and neat - all the more impressive for being a first effort! May I ask what you used for the ratlines? I'm impressed with how fine they look. - James

Thanks for the compliments, the ratlines are some type of mesh I bought at Hobby Lobby in the fabric dept.it comes on a bolt like fabric does.I got a foot of it for 27 cents which will last a lifetime.

Next time you're in Hobby Lobby, swing by where it is, get the name and let us know. You could always snap a photo of it as well and post it here. I'm probably going to put ratlines on all my SoG ships when they start rolling in.

This is excellent Charles. I'm amazed this is a first try. The smaller ships are much harder. I am anxious to see what you do with the larger ships.

Exceptional and for a first attempt. You're like a guy I know who had never played golf before, went with some friends for first time, and whack whack whack..par three thanks very much no problems. Now it contributed to me giving up golf mind you so I hope you don't have the same effect on my ship building

Amazing...especially for an early attempt. As I'm new to ship modeling I look forward to hearing exactly what you used as well. I'm looking forward to finished and painted SoG models simply because I don't have time to take on another painting hobby, but that doesn't stop the desire to detail them more fully!!!

Also, how did you do the water? Is there a standard guide you used or did you work from your own inspiration? The waves and ship's wake look great and I love your color and highlighting.
