    Summary:
This book covers the roles of the navies of Britain and France over 165 years. The author delves into the politics of the times and the effect on the building and use of ships of the line.

For me this book didn't go into enough detail about the actual conflicts. It covers the entire Napoleonic wars in just 17 pages. 188 pages of text and 48 pages of notes makes it a very short book. If you just want a high level overview of the period, this book is the right one. But if you are like me and want more detail, then save your money IMO.
