I sleeved all of my cards and liked it for durability, but many players thought they were slippery, or stuck together in sweaty, tense hands.
So do I.
It stops little sticky fingers from kids at shows.

I reckon that I play not frequently enough to see the need. And basically, I like "direct contact" with gaming materials. This is, for example, also true for mapboards for another wargame that some other players cover with a thin sheet of plexiglass.

I sleeve decks that are very common and put sticky dots on them to avoid mixing them up and losing cards.
I do the same Gary and ship mats and cards so that each is recognisable. The funny thing is that I get my dots fro Australia, because they and the USA are the only place that I can get those small enough, and the USA suppliers will not now ship outside America. So thanks to Sydney.

I sleeve all my cards, mainly to protect them at conventions .
I then use a coloured dot depending on nation and type.
RN orange for SOL and red for Frigates and sloops
France Light Blue for Sol and green for Frigates and sloops
Spain Yellow for SOL and white for frigates
I then add a number to the dots and put dots with the same number on the model base, the ship base, the manoeuvre cards, ship card and ship mat.
I then add the ship to my master list which has all my fleets in numerical order.
First rates are marked with a slash ie HMS Victory ship 1 so the dots are marked 1/1 ( first rates / ship number )
Second rates marked same Ie HMS Temeraire ship 1 so dots marked 2/1
Third rates marked numerical sequence 1 to however many ships
Frigates same as Third rates
Sloops marked S/1 ie Sloop number 1
Keeps me occupied anyway
