    Good day Paul.
My own periods cover ACW, ECW, AWI, F&IW, in both 25 and 15mm, plus WOG I & 2 and SOG, so my special terrain is restricted to some WOG, but mostly Sails and AWI which also does for some F&IW.

The Business of the commander-in-chief is first to bring an enemy fleet to battle on the most advantageous terms to himself, (I mean that of laying his ships close on board the enemy, as expeditiously as possible); and secondly to continue them there until the business is decided.

It's a strange madness that afflicts wargamers.

So far my specialist terrain is focussed on Japan as it's pretty hard to make European structures look Japanese. But I'm waiting for some Caribbean stuff from 4Ground - ordered back in April but now just #200-ish in the queue.

Out of curiosity, what rules do you use for ACW? I've used Johnny Reb (v1-v3) and tried the author's last version, Across a Deadly Field. I have Pickett's Charge which I will give a go. I also have Fire & Fury, but, for some reason, I can't finish reading the rules - they put me to sleep and by the time I go back to them I have to go back to the beginning and start over because I've forgotten what I've read. No other rules does this to me. It's part about me and part about the writing style, I suppose.

Fire and Fury was chosen for us by Captain Kiwi when we first began and I have never varied from that format Paul. Some years ago I did await the introduction of their skirmish rules with baited breath but although when they finally emerged I was already heavily involved with Wings so I never really got around to trying them out. The almost pristine rule book still graces my bookshelf.

This is why I keep to a laser focus: AAM(dead), WAS(dead), WGF, WGS, SGN. Not even the forthcoming "small ships" Sails variant or T&T.
