Default Just released on Wings today.

The Business of the commander-in-chief is first to bring an enemy fleet to battle on the most advantageous terms to himself, (I mean that of laying his ships close on board the enemy, as expeditiously as possible); and secondly to continue them there until the business is decided.

Thank you for sharing this information, Rob.
Good to read that it continues. I wonder if the sentence "…start preparations for the launch of a new Sails of Glory product line" has to be interpreted that there will be actually new ship types.

This is most likely the long-proposed pirate range which is likely to mean models in a different scale

Ah, okay. I found and older discussion about the pirate line here:

    https://sailsofglory.org/showthread....=pirate+models

Personally I would prefer more historic ships of the existing scale, but let's see how this issue develops.

As would I. It occurs to me that the new line might also be a viable springboard for making Great Lakes engagements playable... it's either pirates or they're washing their hands of the existing dog's-breakfast of mixed scales and hard rebooting, which would hopefully mean more consistent scaling between models at the cost of obsoleting what we already have.

At least it’ll be interesting to see what the new scale would mean to the rules. Will they make any changes to the rules or just rescale the damage for smaller ships?

My expectation is they'd probably start with a simple rescaling the numbers, then tinker with the nuts and bolts only as needed to compensate.

I'd expect redefining the upper bound of the stat lines to allow much better resolution of detail for smaller vessels. I did something similar for frigate actions in "Sails" and, before that in FLOB, it makes for a much more satisfying game when you only have smaller ships involved. I'd also expect more in the way of captain and crew abilities to reflect historical personalities. the ability to customise ships, and a nifty campaign system.

    But thats just my guess

It would be very nice if that all came to pass Dave.

That would also be something that could be incorporated in Napoleonic Sails.
