Rob here is the Dutch 68. I haven't completely cleaned it up yet but as you can see it is a very pretty ship.

    Indeed it is Vol.
I must get my other ships completed first but then!!!
    Thanks for posting.

I haven't posted to the workshop in while - busy with WWII Coastal craft. Now I have printed several of Henry's "Gilded Sails" ships for use with Oak&Iron. Just about finished 2 wreck markers for a game on Friday. Getting ready to work on a fluyt and pinnace. My first try will use the supplied resin masts and sails. For the fluyt I am going to try cloth sails, taking inspiration from Vol, so I have printed the bare poles. I did try a print of the whole ship including masts but it failed and fell into my vat.

For the wrecks I experimented with contrast paints. They work well over an off white primer. For the decks I simply used a wash over the primer. Oh and in the background are a just finished 3d printed 28mm dismounted Spanish caballero from the Reconquista and a unit of Zouaves.

Those look very good Eric, and it is good to get a glimpse of your earlier period ships too.

Thank you Rob. I just remembered a tip I wanted to share. I discovered that painting the brittle resin rails with cyanoacrylate glue strengthens them considerably. Enough so that you can tie off rigging to them without snapping them off so easily.

A very useful tip Vol. I'm sure it will hold true for many other of the brittle small parts too, like the stern lanterns.

Sadly nothing to report; too much work dealing with the Old Crab's demands and her wild-hair-up-the-*cough* holiday project ideas. Closest to it is doodling out an idea for the girlfriend's first gunsmithing project...

    Wonderful ship, Vol!

Myself, I’ve been sewing a new captain’s waistcoat, but I will get back to finishing my Spanish fleet now, I hope…

I’m a consultant and about to get a new assignment and that might be a bit tiring, though…

    Start the 20th of December…

I have three hulls on my workbench that I hope to get on with anyway.

Then I’ll get the Spanish fleet finished, all more or less at the same time.

I feel really bad now Jonas, apart from the AAR I wrote last week work is at a standstill here, I only need a couple of hours to complete HMS Captain, but my work table is covered with Christmas cards wrapping paper and trimmings going up as and when we can get on to them. My Brother-in- law died last week, so we also have had that to deal with.
Hope to be back at the wheel as soon as Christmas is over.

Wow Rob, your port looks great!

It has been pretty quiet on here of late. I'm glad to see you and Jonas are still working on stuff that keeps me motivated!

I was playing around and printed Simon's Palas 40-gun frigate in 1/450 scale for an HMS Java to match my 1/450 scale Pyro plastic kit USS Constitution model. While I was at it I also printed Simon's USS Constellation in 1/450. They came out beautifully!

Where do I start here chaps.
They all look magnificent and as for the details, Texas' close up of the Rayo Figurehead says it all.
As for my own modest efforts, all I got done today was an effort to draw out where the contouring of the town will need excavating. I have been entertaining Captain Kiwi and his good lady today, with all flow tests all completed beforehand so no Yellow Jack or Scurvy in evidence. This, however did slow down my progress on the works.
Hope to get a bit more done before Christmas strikes in earnest.
    Thanks for those photos shipmates.

The ships look really good Jonas. Rayo looks as big as the 112 gunner. For some reason I can't see the figurehead photo. It just shows "Attachment 57148"

The Business of the commander-in-chief is first to bring an enemy fleet to battle on the most advantageous terms to himself, (I mean that of laying his ships close on board the enemy, as expeditiously as possible); and secondly to continue them there until the business is decided.
