Default A Floating Gun-Battery on Lake Champlain during the AWI

The attached link is to what I found to be an interesting article about the Thunderer. The floating gun-battery would make for an unusual project to replicate in 1/1000 scale.
The article not only talks about the Thunderer but it discusses the creation of the British "Lake Champlain fleet."

A detail from “The British Fleet, led by Carleton and Pringle, on Lake Champlain at Valcour Bay, 11 Oct 1776,” showing the Thunderer with two masts, flying a British Ensign.

    Anthony,
there are quite a few references to the floating gun batteries and gunboats of the American Lake Champlain Squadron in Silverstone's "The Sailing Navy."

The Business of the commander-in-chief is first to bring an enemy fleet to battle on the most advantageous terms to himself, (I mean that of laying his ships close on board the enemy, as expeditiously as possible); and secondly to continue them there until the business is decided.
