Here's a little something I've been experimenting with:

    This is a Straight ruler.

We've talked about how there's no way to go slow or for dissimilar ships to sail in line ahead without constant jockeying.

I've assigned each class of ship a top speed based on their Maneuver Decks. My assumption is that this is their top combat speed, not top Top speed, which presumably would be faster but not practical for maneuvering. In this case, the Amazon's top speed is 5.5 knots.

This is the equivalent of a #6 turn, or 2 points to starboard.

Here's a #4 turn, or 2 points to port with a 2 knot reduction in speed.

...and a straight at 1.5 knots.

My plan is for a collection of 7 rulers that would be usable by any ship. Of course only the most nimble ships would be able to use all 7. 1st rates would use 4.

As an aside, the speed on the rulers is the actual scale distance a ship would cover at that speed in 1 minute.

Very interesting. It seems though if you are scaling up speed, you may also need to scale the gun ranges to match? And buy a bigger table
