Default Sail Damage at Different Sail Settings

Been thinking about sail damage, especially when at full sails. Any modifiers that make it more likely that you'll get a damaged sail when more canvas is set? Maybe making the "aim high" rule or some modified variant of it standard when opponent is at full sail.

Also, I'm assuming backing sail is the same amount of canvas as battle sails, just in a different configuration. If not, and backing sail is actually less sail, maybe having a 50/50 chance of sail damage if you draw it.

    Best,
    James

    Just spotted this Jim.
One rule we have is that if a ship engages under full sail, any sail damage is liable to penalty of fire. Three chits are drawn from the A bag to see if fire breaks out when you fire or are fired upon. This does not involve bow or stern chasers if fired, only broadside guns.

The Business of the commander-in-chief is first to bring an enemy fleet to battle on the most advantageous terms to himself, (I mean that of laying his ships close on board the enemy, as expeditiously as possible); and secondly to continue them there until the business is decided.

    Thanks Rob. Makes sense.
