    Well done David!

Constructor Captain does have a "Bob the Builder" ring to it though;)

A Constructor is a member of the Royal Corps of Naval Constructors, part of the Naval Service and the branch of the MOD responsible for the design of RN warships. RCNC members have equivalent naval rank, and so a senior designer may be a Constructor Commander or Constructor Captain

    Ok, now it's clear.

    Congratulation, David.

I hope they will confirm your (temporary) rank and keep you in this position.

More drinks for the RCNC that had their bicentenary last year! (I think)

And more questions for David, none of which will breach the Official Secrets Act and force him to kill us all if he tells us:

Historically, if the equivalent ranks were given to the designers such as Captain, did this entitle them to the same privileges of seniority that Flag Captains would have of automatic promotion (barring disaster) to higher ranks? So was it possible to become an Admiral of this branch of service?

The Corps was established in 1883 so its our 130th birthday next August (cue big "do" at Pompey to celebrate)

Automatic promotions would be nice but alas not. But "yes" to flag rank Constructors. The current Head of the RCNC is a 2* post (Rear Admiral). We've had higher in the past when the organisation was a lot bigger :)
