Step Four: Dryfitting the masts. The mizzen has been moved forward a bit, as has the main. The main course is furled to keep it out of the smoke from the trypots.

Here's a sloop for comparison, with a brig in the background awaiting a new, strengthened main course mast, made necessary from heavy duty.

Soon to come, at least 6 whale boats, courtesy of Langton small boats.

I am afraid that attachment 43903 and 43904 are not showing up Dobbs.

She is looking good and a really clear set of pictures to follow for any of us who wish to produce a Whaler.

The whaler with all whale boats attached. Just aft of the foremast, you can make out the deck to support the chimneys for the trypots. There is another deck abaft the main to support two additional boats.

The ship's hull is a simple brown with a cream stripe near the water. Probably not the best color choice for bring dead whales alongside, but I wanted something that was distinctly not military-looking.

That makes for a very interesting ship to add to scenarios. She's a beauty.

She certainly is Jonas, and Dobbs has also reminded me that I need some more ships boats from Langtons.

It truly is an inspiring conversion. I have realized the need for a few ship boats now, and probably more corvettes.

    Great work!

    Indeed Jonas.
Ships boats are a high priority on my shopping list too.

I would make it an English whaler with the USS Essex in pursuit.

I was thinking that the Essex could hove into view just in time to rescue that American Whaler Eric.
In fact a whole new ball game is opened up by Dobbs's conversion. I believe that there were also Whalers in action near Alaska and the Canadian coast so a Pacific scenario could possibly also be played out. What vessels did the USA have deployed in this neck of the woods?
