    Default 38-40 gun frigates.

I have been modifying the 40 gun frigate model to make different looking versions of this model.
I think it’s an interesting size and i kind of like the model even though it has a weird poop deck.
Not all of them are finished yet.

Some of them have become flush decked frigates and two have gotten a bigger poop.

Are the Langton stern masks? They look very good on those boats. It gives a lot of diversity and personality to the boats. Well done!

All but one that's changed are from Langton. The two at each end has the original. The second from the left I made myself from a sheet of plastic and just painting it.

    Exceptional work Jonas.
The alterations to the Stern have given them all an identity of their own.
    Bravo!

Dobbs: After removing the stern gallery I used an X-acto to cut it away and used Milliput to make the aftmost part of the deck. There will be a big hole there after the removed poop deck.

I got more or less every frigate stern gallery they had and have lost track of which is which. The one with a lot of red is the Swedish frigate at least. I got the sterns with the idea to put them on different sizes of SoG frigates, including my HMS Surprise.

Rob: Thank you and thank you for the reputation!

I had an extra hull lying around, and, following your example Jonas, decided to attempt to remove the poop deck. I feel that it was an extremely satisfying success. Thanks for the leadership!

Here's a picture of the finished extraction:

I would guess that that is SGN105B Proserpine from the colour of the stripe.

It is Proserpine. I picked up a few cheap a while back to use their spankers for brigs. The abandoned hulls have been haunting my parts bin ever since. It looks like this one might get a new life...

Not liking the strange poop decks on the Hebes and following Jonas' lead, I continue to modify old hulls to be flush decked. One day these will get masts.

I could say Dobbs will be flushed with success when he completes these, but I won't.

Here, I have cut the plastic insert for the flush quarterdeck. I cut it from a sheet of 0.030" styrene.

Bow it's in place. Some filler, and I will know if I've succeeded. If I meet with success, it's another sale for Ares, as the genuine sacrifice must be gotten.

Aft deck with a hatch to conceal the line. New paint jobs for both hulls. Boy, the red doesn't show up very well...

Sorry, coming in late to this. What Langton stern are you using to replace the cutaway on this ship Dobbs?

Jonas are you saying Rod Langton sold you just the stern plates alone? If so, how did you order them? I would be very interested in doing the same.

I'm using the stern windows that came with the model, just gently sanded to fit. If you shave across the forward edge of the roundhouse/poop deck, that gets you inside the back of the model and gently shaving with a #11 Xacto knife allows you remove the poop entirely and take the forward wall down to with the flush deck. Hmmm, maybe I should avoid using poop and flush in the same sentence. I then used a small file and sandpaper to shape the topsides of the ship around the aft cabin.

Jonas has a sweet deal because he's local with the Langtons (lives in Europe). I had to order a whole ship to get the stern for my Tonnant conversion by Jonas' instruction.

    https://www.sailsofglory.org/showthr...Jonas-Tonnants

...and thanks Rob and Vol, for the rep points!
