I will be the first in line to give three cheers and hoist a reverent drink to Comte de Grasse, Comte de Rochambeau, and Marquis de Lafayette. The United States probably would not exist without them and the brave French sailors and soldiers who served under them. I hope you took my comment in the levity in which it was intended. BTW -- I have a fairly large French fleet and would love to see them in action.
