Jonas I had to make a comment and did not want to disturb the flow of your story so posted here instead.

This new AAR of yours looks intriguing. I can't wait to see just how it pans out. Very impressive thus far.

The Business of the commander-in-chief is first to bring an enemy fleet to battle on the most advantageous terms to himself, (I mean that of laying his ships close on board the enemy, as expeditiously as possible); and secondly to continue them there until the business is decided.

Thanks for not posting in that thread.

I thought I would fix the text and pictures much quicker, but I got delayed.

Perhaps I should post some empty posts I can edit so you can comment in the thread.

    Thank you for your comment!

I have to go to bed, but I'll continue tomorrow.

There's quite a lot more work than I thought matching the pictures to the text I've written as I write the story around short notes and then put in the pictures.

That's what I usually do Jonas.
Although I can close my threads I often just fill a few posts with headers. If you don't need them all you can get me to delete them for you after you finish.

Well... The pre-amble, part 1 and "intermission" is finished.

Part two will have to wait for tomorrow.

Have you spotted my little easter egg?

Hope I haven't spoiled the party as I commented in the thread just now. Cracking read though.

No worries! I added the posts to edit. Rob made this thread when I had just made one or maybe two posts in it.

    That's O.K. then.
I was going to ask if you wanted the comment moving to this thread Jonas.

I finished the April AAR and started posting the one for June, mostly as a teaser...

I thought I would use this thread as a little bit of a discussion thread.

I find that one of the things I really like to do when writing my AARs is to mix in a lot of historical persons and situations.

Example: Johan af Puke is a historical person that I made into my protagonist. There's a historical quote from when the king asked him to lead the Viborgska gatloppet or the Gauntlet of Viborg, that he answered "Ja, Ers majestät, nog fan går jag ut, men hur det går med de andra det får vi se." which translates to "Yes, your Majesty, I'll bloody hell set sail, but about the others, we'll see." Therefore I've made him swear a lot in my stories.

Do anybody else do anything along those lines?

    Morning Jonas.
Although I use historical characters of some seniority as cameo appearances in my AAR's Ii always have non historical characters in my leading roles.

I thought of just changing the name as the first Jack Aubrey book.

But as opposed to Jack Aubrey / Thomas Cochrane where everyone interested in the genre immediately know who he is, no one except a handful of people in the world would know who Johan af Puke is.

I also used fictinal characters for my aar, hopefully the frequency of these will improve soon due to a change in circumstances.
But my intention is to keep my fictional names already used and sprinkle in some historical ones to spice up the preambles

My British main characters were stolen fictional characters. They are Jane Austen characters.

I often use Dickensian characters for my persona Jonas.
Oliver Leaford and Jack Dawkins being but two whom I have used in the past.
