    Default My Newest Islands

My computer start-up screen had this cool picture of two islands. I thought, "I want to sail there."

Now, I can, albeit on a small scale.

No I can't see it either Dobbs.

Fixed it you did! Yes it does look like an undiscovered island in a continent far away!
What did you use to make it?

2" insulation foam, stood on end allows for a narrow but tall and craggy island. I then sealed it with white glue, as per Bligh's instructions. This allows it to be painted without dissolving the foam.

The grass is model railroad grass. The sand and rocks are sand and pebbles.

Really like your islands. Has lots of character.
I found another material to skip the cutting and painting - children's air dried clay. Easy to sculpt and pre-colored. Dries light and sturdy. You may want to try it out sometime.

Looks like Pyramid- and Gorilla Island.

    Nice ones.

I just googled it. My inspiration was Wharariki Beach, in New Zealand.

Boy, the upkeep for an island! And I thought mowing the lawn was a pain!

    Very rugged Jonas.
    That's an entirely new challenge.
