    Default Hudson Valley Celtic Festival

I spent Saturday about 4 miles from my place at the Hudson Valley Celtic Festival and had a cracking good time -- it is a sanctioned piping competition among other events. Here is a photo of the massed bands (over 100 pipers and drummers) parading at the end of the day. Quite a number of good "pub bands" playing in the beer tent as well (where I confess I spent perhaps too much time..)

Fall of shot on the enemy redoubt.

The Business of the commander-in-chief is first to bring an enemy fleet to battle on the most advantageous terms to himself, (I mean that of laying his ships close on board the enemy, as expeditiously as possible); and secondly to continue them there until the business is decided.

Boy! You English are serious! I don't think American re-enactors use live ammunition.

Although once during the bicentennial reenactment of the Battle of Monmouth a British field piece had a cook off and fired its ramrod down range over our heads.....
