The flag signalled Alnwick to close and follow, once action was under way then it was independent action until the French were defeated.

Sir Henry noted that there was a gap between a big 80 gun French ship and the large 3 decker, closest to the Royal Sovereign was a 74. Sit Herny decided to head for the gap between the 80 and 3 decker. He meant to rake them and then finish them off. Alnwick would finish what he started.
