JOHN BUNCH BONNEMAISON McHARDY was born on 3 December 1801 in the Bahamas. He served in the Royal Navy and Coast Guard, reaching the rank of admiral. He was the first Chief Constable of Essex from February 1840 to October 1881. He died on 3 October 1883.
