Default Scratch building the USS Vermont

I started scratch building the Vermont and got the basic hull done, not to bad so far. I had to use a lot of filler putty as you can see from the pictures because when I started the build I didn't yet have the Constitution, after it showed up I found out my scale on the Vermont was way to small. I had to make major changes to my build, first the beam was way to narrow so I cut the hull in half length wise and added more plastic, than I had to cut it again across the beam to add more plastic to increase the length. Got some work done on the masts also.

Thinking about it now it would have been better to just start fresh, live and learn. The 2 pictures below could have been better, next time they will be. All comments welcome.

    Looking exceptionally good!

Are you going to model the gun ports and guns or perhaps use a paper print out or decal for the sides and stern (similar to what Ares has done for their ships)?

Thanks Jim, the gun ports will be the biggest problem as my hands are not that steady any more so know way I can cut them in by hand, I think I will use small squares of black masking tape for the gun ports, not shore about the guns yet.

Very nice job so far. Consider card for the gunports. IMO they will stand out better thsn masking tape. Looking forward to your next update. Cheers

I can't wait to see this finished. Are you going to do a figure head?

What's the reason for not overlapping the mast at the fighting tops?

Thanks for all the comments guys, That's an easy answer Jonas I made a mistake and didn't want to tear the masts apart redo them.

    Hi Bob.
Please consider putting all your build instructions into post one.
It will save me hours of editing if I decide to promote it into a "How to."

If you want to know more PM me.

I never got any further feedback from Robert nor did I get a PM Vol.
In fact he has not been on the Anchorage since the 27th of January.

Ah, I'm sorry to hear that. I was seriously interested in what he was doing here. Thanks.
