Default Query: Spanish Frigates Sirena and Ifigenia

Does anyone have any idea where ARES got its color scheme for the Sirena and Ifigenia? Is it purely conjectural? I've searched for both and, other than a chart showing dates and strengths, cannot find anything historically or visually about either of these ships. I'm about to repaint them to establish their individual identification but have nothing to go by...

Like a lot of these colour schemes Michael, within broadly known parameters for a certain Nation and timescale they are all mostly conjectural. Just look at the arguments going on about HMS Victory, and we have the actual ship, and probably more descriptive evidence than any other ship in her case.

Michael, if you've not already checked out this website you might look here for some inspiration? I often start here when I have questions concerning the Spanish Navy. Both ships you mention are said to be captured French vessels. (http://www.todoababor.es/datos_docum/hist_fr.htm)

You'll also find some beautiful paintings here (he's acknowledged as the official artist for the website above)

    Good stuff again Jim.
Also that the second of your addresses has the very item about Hms Victory which I mentioned in my last post.
Here is the reprise of the Victory paint program.

Thanks for the reminder. I spotted that on their front page, but hadn't stopped to read it. Now I have. . .thanks!
