    Default Permission to come aboard!

I am new to Sails of Glory but a veteran miniatures gamer of nearly 40 years. My primary period is Napoleonic (landlubbers) with Austrian, Prussian and French 15mm armies. Of course like all of us I have many other armies in many time periods. I was introduced to Ares through WWI Wings of Glory.

My first introduction to 18th/19th century naval warfare came with many nights of playing Avalon Hill's Wooden Ships & Iron Men. We played that game until the boards were frayed and the counters worn. As i advance in age my interest in painting new armies is slowing down. I enjoyed the quick play and set up of Wings of Glory so I thought I'd give this a try. so far I've been impressed with everything. And although I like the prepainted miniatures I never said I wouldn't spruce them up. 😏

    Very much welcome aboard!

I think Sails of Glory and Wings of Glory attracts many older miniature gamers due to being pre painted.
We feel ok with gaming with them straight out of the box, but then that old hobby painting side comes back and we touch up a few of them.
For me, that makes me want to touch up all of them, but as all gamers we buy more than we should and everything never gets painted.

You will probably see a lot of different levels of painted ships here, from untouched to works of art. But we all share the love of the age of sails.
