Default HEREWARD WARGAMES SHOW 2016 - Sunday 4th September

Just realized that although this show has been mentioned on the Drome, it has not been advertised here.
Simon is running two games, one of which is Sails, so if any of you are in the vicinity this Sunday do drop in for a game.

Well the day went well, but was not attended by huge crowds of punters.
As usual in fact Wings run by Hedeby and Flying Helmut had more participants than Simon and I.
In fact we had precisely non.

We, therefore spent the day trialing the new Carronade rules in a series of nine games. Simon playing the British armed with Carronades and myself the French in a series of differently rated Frigates, the last of which Hermione was higher than Simon's ship.
The result was nine nil to Simon as you can clearly see from his demeanour, and the overt jubilation on his face.

That was the nearest I came to a victory all day.
We were about equal on points when that happened.

    Sorry I missed this one.
Had a visit from EnsignPatch yesterday who did not gloat over his victories.. Well not too much, well hardly.. Well ok a little bit.
Like the new Shirts being modelled and looking forward to getting to sea again soon.
At the moment I am free for October so will catch up with things then.
Well done chaps for flying the flag, pity we cant seem to attract punters though

Thank you for the AAR's. It is good to see what you got up to. Those carronades seem very deadly.

It was certainly that extra shot each time that just turned the trick, and Simon's ability to sail in such a way that he got to use it each time we passed.

It's a shame that there were few participants for your games.

I know from experience it can be difficult getting new players but the publicity for Sails of Glory is still important and I'm sure useful.

I'm curious. Do you use the plotting one turn ahead rules?

The publicity angle was one of the main reasons why I realigned my focus from Wings to Sails.
Chris was doing the job of bringing Sails to the Public eye alone long before Neil and I joined in.
Now we can put games on at most shows and with the addition of the superb banners supplied by Simon we are at least catching the wind a bit more.

We are using the normal two moves rules unless we have very young children playing, when I usually let them plot each move.
