Thanks, Keith for the AAR and quality photos. It was an enjoyable read.

Nice report a pity that you ran short of time to finish what was turning g into an epic encounter.

    An interesting encounter Keith.
The maneuverability of the Victory can prove to be a double edged weapon until you get used to it as i found out to my cost last week.
    Right Neil?

Thanks for your kind comments gentleman.

As to manoeuvrability of Victory she did handle well. I made several mistakes, the last being coming around too quickly and missing that last raking shot.

    Yes Keith.
That was the self same reason that I missed mine. She answered the helm too smartly.
It is always good to get to know your ship and its proclivities before relying on it in a tight situation, and although I have a Victory of my own, I have never previously used it in battle.

    Very true words, Rob.

No matter how good your tool is, if you've never used it before it would mostly be luck to fully succeed.

    Nice looking game,
I must admit to not having used HMS Victory as yet.

HMS Victory is quite a good ship...if carefully handled!

Like a few ships in my collection I hadn't used her, or indeed unwrapped the cards prior to the game.

As the game got underway I was also nervous about the superior broadsides that the French ships could deliver. When I realised I would also fail to achieve the initial advantage of wind the situation looked very bleak. A couple of fires on Imperial was a godsend...Though the game was far from complete when time was called.

Hopefully in our next game some other new ships will see deployment. I may even look at the stats prior...

I have yet to see anyone succeed - its a tough ride! I may try a sole game against it to see if the monkey has the same problem!
