4 to play tonight

I have three mates coming over tonight for a game, all have played before, so I was thinking of getting 8 ships out on the mat and running standard rules.

Just trying to decide on what class of ships to run. I have enough ships to go with any combination, I was initially thinking of going with a mixture of Third Rates and Frigates, but with only two mats to play on the frigates will quickly fall to the larger ships unless we apply the convention of the Third Rates not firing on the Frigates unless fired upon.

Maybe just the larger ships slogging it out.

I'd do a game with all schooners! Imagine how much fun that would be

I thought of that but only have four, while I can manage 8 ships in the other classes. As we're only playing standard rules we may have time for two games.

I think that I would run either 8 Third Rates slugging it out or 8 Frigates, so that everyone starts on a roughly equal footing.
