    Default Greetings from Newcastle Australia

Greetings to my new shipmates, I’m very pleased to join your forum. I’m David aka Hyperfocal (a photography term) and a recent purchaser of SOG.

A keen gaming friend of mine introduced me to Wings of Glory a couple of months ago, and not being a gamer other than playing the odd game of Snakes and Ladders with my daughter, I was impressed how enjoyable it was to play. My impression of gaming was thick rule books, endless arguments and not much happening at all.

With WOG we were up and playing in no time and by the end of the evening I was sold on the concept. Usually my Saturday nights are spent either watching yet another cooking show with my wife, or having a couple of beers with some mates, while trying to solve the worlds problems; with absolutely no results. With advanced middle age setting in this seemed a lot more fun.

On finding the makers of WOG also had a sail version, I watch some reviews on UTube and decided if I was going to buy a game system Sails of Glory was the one for me. So I have taken delivery of the starter pack, played a couple of standard games with said mates, printed up a couple of game mats, and already put an order in for some more ships and terrain packs.

So I look forward to learning more about my new interest from you all, and dipping my oar in when I have something worth saying.

    Welcome aboard, David.

In case you are unaware, we have solo rules for SoG and WoG, and we have ongoing solo campaigns. If you have any interest, let us know and we'll point you in the right direction.

These games can be great fun for families as well.

Newcastle was a hard town back in the 60's, mining, steel making and shipbuilding. Very different now, a little more civilized.

    Welcome to the Anchorage David.
As an avid Wings fan, I rather drifted into Sails myself, but have not regretted it one bit.
From fast and furious to quite serene at times, Sails has a charm all its own.
I hope you will enjoy it as much as I do.
    Rob.
