    Default Surprise in Surprise!

These fine ships just drifted in from Shapeways . . .

1/1000" scale Xebec Chibi and HMS Surprise - very nice prints! Might get me going in the ships shop

    With Thorne for comparison

Very interesting! Nice addition of the stay sails on the Surprise.

I bet they will be helpful in protecting the masts by providing some support.

Can't wait to see what you make out of those Dave.
I bet they will end up looking the Bee's knees.

Have you complained to Shapeways, David?

Yeah, it broke off in the bag and I did not notice it until last week, so I just made a new sail/mast unit

Cardstock, and a bit of wire did the trick!

After this experience I like the home made sail better and with the rough printed surface a pain to work with I plan on skipping the 3D models and building from scratch, much less hassle!

Those look great! I'm sure a single one of them could destroy every ship at Trafalgar single handedly.

They may lack power but the ships from the golden age of sail look absolutely fabulous. They are actually beautifle, which is often rare in weapons of war.

I have to agree Hugh, that is probably true.
The more modern artifacts of warfare often look exceedingly sinister.
