    Cheers Rich.
As Merchantmen they look fine to me.
I must get a couple of those done myself.

Very nice Merchantmen! It looks like you redid the ship cards so they're minus the firing arcs? Is that correct?

Hi all, as you can see, our beloved Admiral has put the merchantmen solo rules (for use with Powder Monkey) on the files section at: http://www.sailsofglory.org/download...do=file&id=183

I hope they play well for you!

Great. I have just spent all day printing and cutting all your cards to do with Merchantmen. All I need now is some heavyweight card to stick the photo paper to.

I am lucky, I just got a new printer which is printing so nicely I can do it on card! I think your use of photo paper will always look best though.

I do print on card, but my printer will not take the heavy stock needed for your superb mats Richard.
I just laminated the movement sheet and added it to the growing collection of those.

Ah, well, so long as they play, its a winner! - I am just about to laminate my merchantman solo sheet....

For the logs, I printed off on GSM 120 card, and folded it over onto the rest of the sheet and glued in place, then cut out. Tough enough to play on...and if they get tatty, I will just print another!
I tried laminating, but it looked wrong somehow...

Captain Duff pointed me to this page while discussing something else on a PM so I thought I had better add my Fleet while I have the inclination. Apologies for the picture quality.

Never quite realized what I was starting when I wrote the first message on this thread at the back end of last year. It is great to see how many of you fellows have burgeoning fleets. Then I realize that in little less than two months since I started this thread, the pictures of my own Fleets are already out of date, and I still have a couple more that I must get, plus a couple to repaint.

Do you mean the plastic bases? If so I think I have seen them at a couple of shows, possibly at Colonel Bills or Ainsty, but I am not sure!

One more of course! A friend once called a wargames purchases as "aspirational". I think he is correct. If I just have this I will be happy...

Once my latest purchase arrives I will be able to field four 74s per side, up from three, and a select of one from a small collection of two or three 1st Raters. I had thought three 74s would be enough but of course I was wrong. I have a four or five frigates per side as well.

My real problem is my unpainted lead pile...

Richard, it's a question of what do you want to be able to fight. I've found I want to be able to do the Nile and Lissa with my own ships. That sets an amount needed. When all ship types becomes available I may start thinking Trafalgar, but with Ares rate of releases I think I could keep up.

Morning Keith. Will we ever manage to get the lead mountain down?
When I retired I started making serious inroads into it.
Two years later Wings came along and that was it. My Yorkist Army completed only has two households of Lancastrians to fight and a load of ghost white supporters. As for my ECW 15s. The Scots are still in boxes.
Ships are different. A small squadron was all I needed, say a first rate four 74s and a couple of Frigates each side. Within a year it was, as long as I end up with enough to fight Trafalgar, the Nile, St Vincent etc. is all.
Oh! Then there is Camperdown, the Capes, Ushant or anything else that our Cons may request. Better get a few more just in case. and that is how it goes.

Wings and Sails of Glory have a relatively low entry point. This is enhanced by the fact that the models are usable out of the box which is great compared to miniature painting time. For that reason both have been popular as a low key game at the end of the week in our gaming group. So while my fleet remains modest I do hope to continue to get it on the table.

Interestingly I didn't think that SOG would work as well as WOG as it was two dimensional. I was wrong. While I enjoy both I think I prefer SOG for the additional depth. However, we play a number of systems and each has advantages.

Yup my road was similar, it started as one of each as there were two sides, this soon changed to one for eack base side.
Then I added a few more RN SoL , first due to my Dad being RN so some are the ships he served on back dated, then a couple of fameous extras, then I needed some extra French to make up the sides.
This soon led to the increase in collection, next year, if Im still employed I am hoping to put on a big game at a show to hold all of my SoL just to see if it can be done, this will be over 20 ships per side.

Then there is the new wave coming so it never ends

Despite my protestations, I too have about 4 or 5 ships of each class a side, but this was mainly to be able to allow me to run a big multi-player game at the club, which naturally, has not yet happened!

At least my new (soon to be Redoutable) does'nt need a major repaint from the SoG model Temeraire class '74 - its superfluous to demand, but I JUST WANTED IT!

The Spanish have expanded a bit, but so have the others. I guess it will soon be time for us all to do an update shipmates.

I have put together a temporary Russian fleet. I haven't made ships cards for them as the font couldn't handle cryllic letters.

    Coming along very well Jonas.
I would be tempted to abandon the true font and substitute with one that can handle Cyrillic.
It is so different that it probably won't notice.

Fiodor, Slava, Kronstadt and a saint, Sviatoi Velikomuchenik Panteleimon.

It's not perfect ships to use as I had trouble finding sloops that were the right size and right in time.

Lazy Russian 74, just use SGN104. 1797 Ajax, basis of the Triokh Sviatitelei class, was just a stretched-by-ten-feet version of the Large 74 design Bellona was slightly scaled down from.

I just tried Google Translate to see how good it was with Cyrillic and it gave me this.

Fedor, Glory, Kronstadt and Saint Panteleimon.

Not too bad for Google I feel, but glad you gave us the accurate translation Jonas.

I knew it's too early for the Téméraire look, but that's the black and white 74 I had. The British 74s are all used for the Battle of the Nile or are a Kickstarter exclusive...

But thank you for the information DB. Sometime in the future I might have time, money and the inclination to actually make a real Russian fleet and then this will come to good use.

Well. Fedor, Fiodor or Fjodor is probably up to what country you are in. Glory is the translation of Slava. I just transcribed it. The last translation is correct. Mine was still just a transcription. Google did well as usual.

I guessed that Glory must have been Slava Jonas. The rest passed muster too. I was just not sure about Fedor, so thanks for correcting me on that one.
I hope your Russian Fleet eventually comes to pass.

I think slava is glory or knowledge but I'd guess the glory part is more fitting to a fighting ship.

It's harder to just reflag them as as all know they had black (green ) ships with white stripes. We'll see...
