    Default HMS Spartiate v Argonauta

"Strange sail to the north Sir, looks like a Spaniard, quite possibly the Argonauta"

The 2 74's danced around each other each looking for an advantage.

HMS Spartiate dodged around the stern of the Spaniard and when Argonauta turned fired her rear port division guns into her stern.

Broadside to broadside the two 74's fired at each other...only to fall short!

So they danced around each other some more....

until they were broadside to broadside again....only this time they didn't miss!

"Tis only minor damage and a few crewmen from aloft sir!"

Argonauta wasn't finished just yet. Managing to fire a full, though weakened, broadside into HMS Spartiate. Spartiate's reply was with her rear port division but the weight of iron exchanged was the same.

With both ships heading away from each other, Argonauta made good here escape before being totally overwhelmed by HMS Spartiate.

And so finished game 1 of our 3 games at our LFGS. Unfortunately this is where my camera ran out of battery and Richard (Herkybird) finished the other two games taking all the pics.

Link to post 1 with a link to Herkybirds blog page with pics from all 3 games:

Cheers for 3 great games Richard. Next time I wont use a super frigate, even though two full broadsides were all zero's fired at you.

Thank you for the AAR, Neil. That is an unusual looking mat. Is it a piece of carpet?

The gaming surface is a 6x4 painted table top at our LFGS. He has 2 6x4 and 3 4x4 tables.

I have a sense of Deja vu about that table Neil.

A nice little encounter with a suitably satisfactory ending for both parties methinks.
If only you had got near enough to give one more broadside and then board...........
    Bligh.

In writing the last post I suddenly realized that we have no sinking ship emoticon.
Could this omission be rectified perchance by one of you smart chaps?

That was a good series of games! Next time, you can still use the Amelia type frigate. I will just deploy one of my new, nearly rigged, French frigates. This will undoubtedly give you the Hebe Jeebies!

Ah but on wards to Victory, 'full speed ahead and damn the rocks'! (Someone in the future I am sure will amend this and insert some form of up to date technological wonder I am sure)
