Saltwick Nab is a full bodied dark ruby ale manufactured by the Whitby Brewery.
It is named after the alum quarries in Saltwick Bay at Whitby. An alum is a type of chemical compound, usually a hydrated double sulphate salt of aluminium. The quarries are now closed but they are protected as an important site for fossils. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saltwick_Bay

The Epic Brewing company of Auckland, New Zealand manufacture a 19th Century style English IPA named Message in a Bottle. I am pretty sure that they do not put a message in each bottle with the beer. :)

been drinking the same three beers for thirty years so can't see me changing for nautical fashion guys, favourite tipple is Bacardi 151, a love born when I lived in the States, though it's so expensive under British duty rules I haven't had a sniff in four years and apparently if you transport it by air in your luggage now, you're a terrorist....
Just looked up how much I could get some for and it's been discontinued due to spontaneous ignition lawsuits - well it was the only booze I've ever seen with a flame arrestor across the mouth of the bottle... *sigh*

The Mayflower Brewing Company of Bridgewater, Massachusetts, USA have produced Mayflower 400. a Double IPA, to celebrate the 400th anniversary of the voyage of the Mayflower from Plymouth to America carrying the Pilgrim Fathers.
Anglo-American family and taking the boy to see the Mayflower exhibit in Plymouth this week, we took him to the Mayflower Steps last year - well we ran into it by accident looking for the Aquarium and he was underwhelmed to say the least...
I don't think we'd set up the right expectations, given his first statement was "Umm they don't go anywhere?" well they do go downward and just stop
Then we really went Jules Verne and he said, "was it a submarine?"
I had a sudden vision of dozens of puritan couples lined up (well they did go into the Mayflower 2 by 2 didn't they?) with each of the ladies carrying the family belongings wrapped up in a black tablecloth
Each couple walking down the steps and dropping stoically feetfirst into the water, before upending and plunging down to swim to the submerged, nautiluslike submarine's hatch.
I really hope we find the new Mayflower exhibit has a diorama of exactly that, and I'd pay extra to see it
