Just need to add some foam separators. 6 have sails to be repaired too.

This has 4 wood stands in the corners to allow a tray to be fitted for counters etc and a further tray that lips over the edge for rulers etc.

I would add an non-slip mat and bubble-wrap to the ship part. I must say I like your box a lot.

    Excellent methods of storage chaps.
Please keep them coming. I am still not sure about the way I intend to proceed with my much needed changes.

Cheers good idea. Not transported them far, just room to room in the house. The non slip mat I must get and a second box for the other ships not mounted yet.

I've been driving around with them (all places filled) in the trunk of the car.
They hadn't moved around and looked fine.

I only have a few ships, and my method really isn't practical for a large collection, but my son thinks it looks cool, and that's good enough for me. :)

Firstly welcome aboard Gregory. Do join us in the Wardroom for a virtual tipple and a chat.
Second, that's a very smart way of storing the ships, and I believe has given me another developmental idea in my own storage design development.

    Welcome to the Anchorage!

It's a beautiful storage but as you said it's perhaps not very practical for many ships.

    Hey!
Looks very cool. I would love to have a box like yours. I would not shore ships in it, but to take a smaller number of ships to an event in it. Oh yes! I do not always take all my ships to a game. Love it!
    Be safe Gregory

Your son is right! That's an impressive and immersive way to store your ship collection. Thanks for sharing the photos!

    Welcome to the Anchorage too!
