The forts do look great! I have been pondering a few things; has anybody worked out hot shot? The rules and the expansion cover batteries. Forts are on a scale above them. It typically took a major amphibious campaign to subdue a fort. How do we use these effectively, 'cause they sure look fun to use.

    A quick temporary solution.

For major defensive works Dobbs, I would give each face of the Fort the fire power of a battery, and the strength of the entire Citadel would be the combined strength of each battery.
You could then use existing battery cards to record the damage. This may mean that it would need four or five Liners to take on a large works. Inter supporting defences would be a whole new ball game. Just imagine sailing in to attack one of those masterpieces and getting cross fire from another one on the opposite headland.
The other thing is range. Large works were often sited on eminences, and thus had greater range than the attackers, so we may need to look at these having extreme range of say one and a half rulers.
Then there are larger calibers of cannon available to land based works, plunging fire, and of course your hot shot with which to contend. That's for starters.
I may well be glad that my Bomb Ketches can lob shells over headlands!

This is looking fantastic Julian! This town is not a mold like the fort, is it? This appears scratch built. The Spanish church is not a Langton building, niether do the red roofed buildings look like Langton. Where did you get them? Nicely arranged!

Hello Vol, thank you for your words. City is handmade from pieces of Langton. Specifically I have used the range of ancient buildings. Some of the pieces have gotten directly from the Langton, others one I purchased to my shop in Madrid.
Spanish church and little fort are not a Langton pieces.
This piece of modeling is not going to be for sale. Only will be to promote the other items. If, however, anyone is interested, you can make a similar port on request.

That's a bit of a bastion Julián, but I'm sure I can muddle through without the Church.
I have something Maltese that may well do.

This week I asked Langton 200 guns to arm the city and the two forts.

The church I have sent my contact in Madrid to see if it is possible to clone. Since it is not a trademark, not copyrighted and may be cloned and put for sale.

Has anybody come up with rules for heated shot from forts or batteries? What kind of stats would a full out fort have compared to a battery like the ones in the rules? Even small forts could be exceedingly tough nuts to crack even with infantry support.

    Julian,
You could make a mould of the town and make more to sell, could you not? I sure wish I had access to your shop in Madrid where you obtain all of these cool buildings!

    Morning Dobbs.
A few of my thoughts on hot shot.
I would say heated shot must be loaded and fired in the move straight after loading, to ensure that the powder charge did not spontaneously combust. Also because of difficulty of handling moving from the furnace etc, two moves should elapse before you can be reloaded, similar to double shot.
At the receiving end, any heated shot which has chits with structural damage, such as rudder, masts,or hull, lodges and starts a fire. This should then be treated in the same way as fire damage.
This will mean using hot shot by a battery will be problematical as to getting a hit, but if the risk is taken, it could well pay off. I would restrict the use of heated shot to major Citadels, or the largest battery, as furnaces were not all that common, and portable ones did not have the capacity to supply large quantities of shot at one time.
    Rob.

I would keep things simple. Use the grapeshot chits to represent heated shot. Treat heated shot as normal single shot. Once chits are drawn draw an extra A or B chit depending on range. If a fire chit or damaged rudder chit is drawn a fire starts on the target ship - return the chit to the deck. If a broken mast chit is drawn a gun bursts in the battery, one immediate "hull box" and "crew box" loss.

Vol, I would really like. But I can not do that for two reasons. The first because I'm not technically prepared. Doing that in a single piece involves having tools that currently I do not have.
The second question. Copyright. The houses and other articles of Langton miniatures will have copyright and clone to benefit economically could be reportable. I do not want problems with which distributes the material. Yes I can buy the parts and build a port, but they must be original pieces of Langton but for now I can not make copies. I hope you understand.
    Regards,
    Julián

It's just a representation, is neither scaled nor proportions well drawn. I'll have to gauge the proportions according to the type of table. I plan to use dimensions 1.20m x 1.20m. The northern and southern areas of the boardgame may be undefined as to represent all sea area.

Now these look a very nice eye candy for the game.
After running a few demos the main problem for the game, in UK st least, is the grabbing power is not sufficient to get people to stop and look.
I have been looking at ways to get people to stop and admire before pouncing and getting punters to have a go.
I have recently uses Kalistra mountains to act as Islands which look good but one of the forts as a centre piece would work even better,I shall have to look and see is I can obtain one at some point for next years uk shows.
Really nice work on these Julian, very nice work indeed
