    Default Damage Counters

So, I have a dilemma. The damage counter bags I ordered just came, and they feel a little empty with only one set of counters. Should I add my second set? Or do you think that would mess with the balance for the smaller games I intend to play (8 ships max)?

I should Salem. It makes for easier plucking.

And it doesn't really mess with the chances but rather evens them out.

It's weird not being able to do much damage because many high damage chits have already been drawn.

I always use a double lot of counters, just like in Wings of Glory, a double deck makes the possible disastrous result impossible to discount!

Also, in larger games, you don't run out of counters!!!

Lots of counter, lots and more, more, more. I think I have 4-5 sets in my bags and they don't seem excessively full. Room for some more me thinks...

I still use one set for battles up to 6 six ships of any kind.

And I thought I was getting paranoid with three sets Neil.

See, that's part of the dilemma I'm having: by adding a second set, the initial probabilities remain the same, but the chances of drawing higher value damages together do increase.

    ...or still hitting nothing.

The whole chit drawing thing is statistically invalid anyway. Adding more chits doesn't make things any worse

I see it a little more different.

Imagine a WGS BoB game with 4 Spitfires and 4 Bf.109s.

You use the C damage deck (lots of zeros) and you know that after a lot of series of misses that there should come the big hits sometimes.

With a double/triple C damage deck you have no guarantee for this.

I think this is similar with the SoG damage decks.

It dilutes the character of a damage deck, in my opinion.

I personally usually return chits when playing and I use two sets in the bags. I have also just added fire and leak from one set when playing in more "unofficially", that is not at conventions.
