Default Prevailing Winds Around The World

Recently came across this site which will help. Down the bottom there is a link for a kmz file that, when loaded, gives you a month by month overlay in Google Earth of prevailing winds around the planet. Damned impressive I must say! Check it out, but you must have Google Earth. http://www.pitufa.at/2010/12/prevailing-ocean-winds/

That sounds like a very clever computer program, Brad.

There is a mathematical theorem known as 'The Hairy Ball Theorem' (Wipe that snigger off your face, sailor!). A consequence of this theorem is that there is always at least one point of flat calm somewhere on the Earth's surface. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hairy_ball_theorem

And illustrates why France was never going to win the war.

Could be very useful for campaigns Brad.
I have just been using the seasonal printed maps, but this is much more detailed than any of them.
    Thanks.

Just a further thought, that the wind direction in a game could be set to the prevailing wind direction for the scenario location and then varied as per the rules from there.

    Even better.
I Have not used wind changes or sail changes as yet, excepting the sails for the last AAR so will be anxious to try wind changes now that I am getting a better grip on the rules.
