Has anyone thought about using one of their ships with a broken mast as an AWI prison ship

Strange to say Ed, I was thinking of using one in a scenario, before the one for searching the harbour was introduced into the Solo scenarios.
My idea had been to try and send in a Frigate or Sloop to spring a set of prisoners before the ships in Harbour and land defences could open fire. Warships at anchor take half an hour to get under way, so it should be plausible to slip in free the prisoners and be on the way out before a picket boat spots you.

I hadn't considered prison ships, but had seen drawings and photos of older ships turned into receiving ships. Some quick searching shows you could extend this to the Napoleonic Wars perhaps. Prison ships/hulks could contain prisoners of war or civilian prisoners waiting to be deported to the penal colonies.

A typical British hulk, the former man-of-war HMS Bellerophon, was decommissioned after the Battle of Waterloo and became a prison ship in October 1815.

I purchased a prison ship from Rod Langton. Fits in okay with 1:000 scale.

That is interesting news Brad. We are picking up new information about what's available at a rapid rate of knots.
