Russians and Ottoman/Turks and I promise to never give Ares a hard time again.

PS Lost count on my ships a long time ago.

Having Dutch relatives, I keep feeling that I have a desire there which needs scratching after the Spanish are out.
Then I look at what we did apart from Camperdown. Did the Dutch Fleet do any other large actions, or would I just be buying more ships to sit in harbour?

I passed on the KS for some reason...
Having played recently I have no idea what I was thinking.
Luckily most of the ships I desired were still in stock but are getting harder to find.

My collection is growing to 27 ships... More ships arriving this week (hopefully no delays)
I wanted around 3 ships of each rate... Couldn't fit more than 6 ships on my table as of now.

Considering a second core set... No reason other than I want a second large box and some ships for conversions.

I was so impressed with the Orient conversion to the USS Pennsylvania I couldn't help myself and order 2.
I will attempt a USS Pensylvania of my own.

My intention is to add a wash and some general rigging to each model... But if I don't get to this, each model is very nice out of the box.

Dogger Bank, maybe? I know more than just the French jumped onto the "you took our colonies now we're taking yours" dogpile in the AWI...

Well Steve, I also passed on the KS too, even though I was a founder member of this site. I really just did not understand the concept of what KS was and have been kicking myself ever since.
It will be great to see some pictures of your work when you get started on the conversions.
please do keep us appraised of your progress.

Having read this thread I went and counted. I'm not sure how I managed to buy so many and some haven't been out of their boxes yet...

You should have a massive battle with them over a weekend. And then take some pictures :D

This is something I intend to try out at Doncaster next month using all my First and Third rates, should see nearly 40 vessels if I finish them in time

Well I played my first game on Saturday (1st Oct) where I won the Pirate Treasure which included a ship, and the Game, for which I was awarded a certificate and two more ships.
Today my first Starter set arrived,
So, seven in the first three days,...
365 divided by three then multiplied by seven, plus a second mortgage =
    .
    .
    .
    .
    .divorce probably

Good luck with your fleet. Even with a one or two ships the games are first class. Hopefully that won't result in two large a mortgage.

Well, my inventory has seen it's first reduction--I had picked up a spare Constitution for an uncle who's a former squid, sent it off to him and my aunt for Christmas and it was a hit. (Afraid to try to get them into this, they're on limited budget and their "kids" are retired racing greyhounds, plus they live in a town way out in the middle of nowhere where old cops and their families go to be away from the world and take up fishing in retirement.)

No, I mean in the sense of Wash My Hands. They turn Wave 4 into their own version of "Messerschpitt Madness" and I'm done.

    British
    1 First Rate
    2 74 gun Third Rate
    1 50 gun Fourth Rate
    1 40 gun Frigate
    2 32 gun frigates

    French
    Same mix

Short term goals: add a Third Rate, possibly a 64 gun, to both British and French. Beef up Spanish a bit.
Long Term: hope to see some more American frigates or even the post war ships of the line.

So, 16 ships (and one wreck because of carelessness combined with the ship not coming with the protective insert). Currently enough to have decent SotL or Frigate action without having to mix the two. Not sure I really need to go much beyond twenty ships as it stands. The nice thing about SoG is that the models tend to be fairly generic, unlike games such as Wings of Glory or X-Wing. You don't need the latest and greatest, and ships still pretty much function the same despite being built fifty years apart.

    Spanish
    1 74 gun Third Rate
    1 32 gun Frigate

Add one each SGN109-112 to my list...

    Starter complete 8/8
    Kickstarter complete 8/8 = 16/16
    Wave 1 complete 16/16 = 32/32
    Wave 1 reprint complete 8/8 = 40/40
    Wave 2 complete 24/24 = 64/64
    Specials complete 2/2 = 66/66
    Wave 3 review samples 4/4 = 70/70
    Wave 3 1st set completion 0/8 (pending)= 70/78
    Wave 3 2nd full set 0/12 (pending) = 70/90

I have most of the data assembled for my report on Wave 3 to Ares, I just need a few things cross-checked by other SME's.

Updates in red, with a full set of Wave 3 added, just need eight more for mop-up.

Probably time I had another head count Chris.
I think you are still well ahead of me though.
Good Job Tim is not into Sails, or we would never get the chance to buy another ship between the lot of us!

I think this Poll needs updating, because at least one of us now has over one hundred to my knowledge.
How did you get your ships destroyed Gordon?

We had a bad storm come through about a month and a half ago and the book shelf where I had them toppled over as my house was hit with heavy winds and I was not a happy camper . Needless to say my original fleet was destroyed . But I have since secured the fleet anchorage in my house so my new fleet is safe. Buying from EBay ,Amazon and cool stuff to have my fleet

    Really bad luck Gordon.
You must have been gutted at the time.
Looking back on it now, you are probably the only person who can say that he genuinely lost his Ares Fleet in a storm.
Did you salvage anything that you could use as spares, or to model sinking ships?

Gaming at a store is often a good way to get like minded people in your own area into the game Gordon.
The problem with Demo's at National shows is that although you may get recruits they are often from far flung places and don't help you to build up a local group of friends.

Gordon, what are you doing with the dismasted models, are they beyond repair?
If yes you can always make them into damaged/ sinking ships or sell them off to those who would

Well my count now stands at 15 mixture of British French and American, waiting on the new releases of which I will get 4 of them probably taking my total to about 20, unless the release more American ships and cargo ships of which I will get at least 6.

Just having picked up the game, I have - recklessly - bought 20 ships (inclusive of the 4 of the Starter Set).

I have confined myself to British and French vessels so far and attempted to pick the varying sizes of each nation to be flexible for any sort of scenario I might play.

Sails of Glory Starter Set (SGN001A)
Ship Pack HMS Orpheus 1780 / HMS Amphion 1780 (Engl., 69/69 pts.) (SGN103C)
Ship Pack Le Berwick 1795 / Le Swiftsure 1801 (Frz.., 135/135 pts.) (SGN104A)
Ship Pack HMS Zealous 1785 / HMS Superb 1760 (Engl., 135/136 pts.) (SGN104C)
    Ship Pack Carmagnole 1793 / Sibylle 1791 (Frz., 88/84 pts.) (SGN105A)
Ship Pack HMS Sybille 1794 / HMS Amelia 1796 (Engl., 85/88 pts.) (SGN105C)
    Ship Pack Orient 1791 / L'Austerlitz 1808 (Frz., 206/207 pts.) (SGN106B)
Ship Pack HMS Swan 1767 / HMS Fairy 1778 (Engl., 37/37 pts.) (SGN107A)
    Ship Pack Alligator 1782 / Le Fortune 1780 (Frz., 37/37 pts.) (SGN107B)
Ship Pack HMS Royal George 1788 / HMS Hibernia 1804 (Engl., 181/212 pts.) (SGN108B)
Ship Pack HMS Queen Charlotte 1790 / HMS Ville de Paris 1795(Engl., 200/197 pts.) (SGN108C)
    Ship Pack Protée 1772 / Eveillé 1772 (Frz. 102/102 pts.) (SGN109B)
Ship Pack HMS Leopard 1790 / HMS Isis 1774 (Engl., 96/99 pts.) (SGN110B)
    Ship Pack Petit Annibal 1782 / Leander 1798 (Frz., 97/98 pts.) (SGN110C)
Ship Pack HMS Hamadryad 1797 / HMS Mahonesa (Engl., 85/79 pts.) (SGN113C)
Ship Pack Neptune 1803 / Ville de Varsovie 1808 (Frz., 171/171 pts.) (SGN115B)
Ship Pack Duc de Duras 1765 / Dauphin 1766 (Frz., 89/95 pts.) (SGN116A)

Likely more that I need. And then there is the issue of additional Ship Mats being unavailable...

As SoG needs face-to-face opponents and I am working to kindle the fire in two other people, I will rely on them to venture into the Spanish and Americans.

Not bad for starters Lt. Bush.
Since this Poll was instituted I suspect that if you conducted a new one you would find the results somewhat expanded.

Oh, I am sure of it!

Let us thank the Lord that we are not talking about the French Fleet...

Stick one up if you like Dobbs and I will close this thread. I suggest that it ends at more than 300.
