Nice artillery!---but back to little ships? - I only get enough ships so my friends and I at the club can play a game using Frigates, 74's or 1st rates, any more would only be because I like the model!

That is sufficient for our needs. I cannot therefore really justify the expense (or required storage space) of more. (sigh!)

Then again, I am English, ergo weird, but generally harmless!

    Men and their toys.

I sold most of my rifles & small arms.

    The rest:

    Glock .45 ACP
    S&W .357 MAG (686 black stainless)

    For service:

    H&K P7 9mm
    H&K MP5

Actually Ken, my sons and I were playing a couple of times a week over the winter, but now that spring is here we're only getting together once every week or so! They both have jobs and girlfriends, so their playing time has been limited! However, I've been using my free time to work on the scenarios for our upcoming convention in August, and trying to get some of these babies painted and rigged! Of course the wife and our dogs do demand their share of my attentions, so every now and then I give them each a few minutes out of the day!! Luckily, only one of them can tell time!!!

In a similar situation, i only need enough ships for myself and my daughter to play small games. We now own 8 including the starter ships, and unless Ares produce merchies or pirates, i cant see many more coming my way. Maybe a sloop or two.

Just give me some fat merchant ships to plunk down into the fray as part of an escort. I know most people wouldn't want to shell out money for a lame duck model, but a historically accurate merchant vessel or two (fitting the aesthetics of SOG) would be bloody stupendous!

I totally agree, I would love to be able to do a small campaign for my friends at the club, and interdiction of merchant vessels would be a great part of that!

    Come on ARES!

A single merchant type (EIC)would change the dynamics of the game incredibly and open up so many more possibilities

The book I am reading, currently, on the Bonhomme Richard vs the Serapis makes many comparisons/contrasts between the ~50-gunner two-deckers and the merchantman, especially EastIndianmen. It is making me desirous for these classes of ships.

It certainly would Neil. I have been binding on about the HEIC for some time now.
The annoying thing is that way back in the 70's I read a couple of Ramage type action books about a Captain of an HEIS Razzeed Frigate, and can't for the life of me remember either the name of the books nor the Author. An ideal setting for small Squadron Engagements.
