She's a beauty! It would almost seem a shame to have to blow her out of the water in a game!!

She roams the Med looking for an equal to engage. Maybe a Russian 32.

    Beautiful ship!
Very nice with those other nationalities.
I think I'll have to try my hand at some too, when I get the time. Probably Russians... I wish there were good ships for them in 1:1000...

I am guessing this is Selimiye 122 guns?

Built for the Ottomans in Istanbul by the Frenchman Jacques-Balthasard le Brun.

    HI Ed,
You are very lucky. Vol is a master. She would be a great add-on to your fleet. May she cut through the Russian lines. As long as it's not my Russian ships.

The Russian 100/110 Ches'ma class is a close copy of the HMS Victory for a starter.

The French, Vol is a French name is it not for safe passage through the Med. (As long as they keep away from the Brits.)

I haven't named her yet but the Selimiye is probably the best choice, even though a little shorter than the Montagne.

I'm going to add to the mix. The word "Welsh" is old English for "Foreigner"

That's only one of many "guardians of the Mediterranean" to come.

Next will be a Russian build up as soon as Ares releases the Victory.

    That is GREEN!

As dark green as Gustavus Adolphus? He's family color was black, used on sash and stuff, but a year in the field and the dyes of the seventeenth century made all think it was green.

Black and White - Caviar and Vodka?

  40. #40

DARK GREEN & WHITE except for the visually impaired. I knew this picture would draw you out Rory
I will admit the green on the ships is way too light.
Caviar and vodka to be sure, followed by a Sam Adams lager.

Ummm,.....! I don't recall ever seeing paintings of Russian Ships with the Jack in place of the Ensign, not that I have seen all that many. Was this a common practice?

You're right Brad. Those were supposed to go on Russian merchantmen (that I never got around to building). They will be replaced with the white ensign, blue cross (one of these days).

To the wardroom, nice Russian ships. I know that Russian Green was very very dark, almost black. At least the uniforms were in this period.
