    Default Off topic: Study on nutrition in French Napoleonic army

    In the "what's new" section of the Napoleon Series for Jan 15th there is an interesting article on the nutritional state of soldiers from Napoleon's army. Makes a fascinating read and although applicable to land warfare only, it still gives an insight into just how unpleasent and debilitating it was to live and fight in those times.

    And this is why as late as the ACW, far more fatalities occurred *off* the battlefield than on....

    Very interesting, Daniel. I think I should start marching three hours per day.

    In comparison, we ate quite well when I was in the USAF. I gained weight during my time on active duty. Then again, my job did not require much physical activity.
