Thread: Picture Quiz

  1. #1

    Default Picture Quiz

From time to time at the Aerodrome pictures are posted quizzing the members. I thought I would start a thread where members here at the Anchorage could post pictures challenging fellow members to identify pictures.

What event does this picture depict?

I THINK I saw that painting attributed to Glorious First of June... memory's fuzzy, though, not enough caffeine--must be time to hook up an IV.

Good job Daniel. I'll give you credit for that being correct although it was just called the Austrian Navy in 1820, the time depicted in the picture. The Austrian Empire didn't become Austria-Hungry until 1867.

This is the Russian 74-gun Azov in Valletta, Malta. The ship in the background would most likely be the 84-gun HMS Asia of the British squadron that fought alongside the Russians at the Battle of Navarino.
