    Wouldn't matboard still flex a bit. The last time I used any was way back in the 80s so I don't really remember. Also I like the thickness and stiffness of the foam core. It is easy to pickup and move around.

    At the size needed and being whole without a cutout as used for pictures, flexing should not be a problem. Either material would be fine for an inexpensive choice, just a matter of preference.
