Yup, in use on Sunday at the Reveille wargames show in Bristol :)

I also have extra card packs and the rather lovely bags for the damage chits.

Well done! Seeing this happen sure ramps up the excitement we'll all be sharing in the very near future.

I've known of coast-to-coast shipments that took longer to cross JUST CHICAGO on the BRC than the entire rest of the country. Which helps explain why back in the day New York Central and Milwaukee Road jointly built their OWN outer belt-line (the Indiana Harbor Belt) that let them, and anyone else interested in paying for IHB's services, bypass the BRC completely...

*Twenty-foot Equivalent Unit, a measurement of container capacity equivalent to a 20'-long semi-trailer.
Based on the package size of the ships, starter sets, and other components, and the number of each pledge on the KS page, unless there is an inordinate amount of external packaging on each box I think that the overall volume of the shipment for fulfillment of the KS might be surprisingly small.

Two questions beyond that might be:
    1) How much was ordered in the KS "extras"?
    2) How much additional stocking inventory did Ares have created and is part of the shipment?

Approximately 60% of product cost. I hope that is not typical, but solely related to weight on this one.

Interesting, I had no idea about this show, its only about 4 miles from me. I might have to come along and actually see sails of glory for myself, i have been waiting so long now since the kickstarter, that it will be good to actually see a game. What time are you running the games from? Or are you just demonstrating it?

Here is a very quick video of the sails of glory demo, done by David in Bristol today. Unfortunately, my son Thomas (who can be seen being held by my wife in the background) is quite ill so we had to leave after only about 10 minutes of getting there. it would have been great to stay and play a game, but it shouldn't be to long to wait now. For the record, the ships look amazing when seen first hand, you really can't appreciate that from the pictures and videos. This game is going to look pretty amazing when we all get it!

(Before anyone mentions it, i mean't backing sails when I'm talking to the gentleman in the video, not battle sails, which is the mid setting.)

No worries. After seeing the game, really excited to get it and play now. Next trick will be convincing my friends that they want to play it. Looking at it today though, i don't think that will be too hard.

Thanks for the get well's for Thomas. He's a grumpy little baby at the moment. He'll be better very soon though.

I think the element of having islands seems to work well. I got these islands from Rod Langton, ready for when SOG arrives. I think they will look pretty good on the board. They only took a few minutes to paint, by using a sponge to dab on the paint. Im very keen on keeping the 3d element, rather than flat cardboard islands. I have just ordered a fort as well, which will hopefully look good when it arrives. I did buy some Martello towers, but they really are tiny at 1:1200. Ignore the ship in the background, as its very much the wrong scale.

I agree with you about the 3-D islands in game play Chris. I plan to make flat topographic rings that surround larger island, shoals, sandbars, etc. Gives some depth to the play mat. I'm going to wait until I have the mats in hand so I can match colors and materials.

The islands look great! Are they foam, plaster, resin or metal?

They look somewhat like the islands I've seen for "Pirates of the Spanish Main", which, coincidentally, someone just posted pictures of on TMP (old photos btw): http://theminiaturespage.com/boards/msg.mv?id=327488

After playing SoG at Bristol, thanks to Dave, I have been brought back into the fold (I'm the one with the grey beard in the video)
I found the game very enjoyable and well worth investing some of my redundancy money into, when the game is finally released .
I can't see me buying more than a few extra ships but I think the game will get very good use in my local group.

That sounds like its going to look pretty great when you do it. Im sure that once we all receive our orders, there are going to be some great images of peoples customisations of their games coming up.

These are just resin, so were super easy to do and not too expensive. The islands from the spanish main link you send look amazing, much better than what I've done here, but they sound like they took a lot of work to make! That board looks pretty amazing though.

If you are ever in the Chicago area, please let us know. It would be nice to visit and show you around. If in the Midwest in general, we could arrange a scramble, or whatever the proper term for an SoG gathering would be.

Don't think too soon though. While Dave got part of his KS stuff in and it is production items, he did not get it though the normal channels. Not trying to down play his score at all, just want everyone to have realistic expectations.

    Oh well, hopefully by Christmas.

New laptop, the official MHI Zippo and complete set of Challenge Coins, my Commodore Plus Addons Package, my What The Food?! Everything Plus A Cherry On Top Package... almost enough to make up for it being the second Christmas in a row Grandma's in a nursing home.

Well, that doesn't sound very promising? Do you know something we don't? "I've got a bad feeling about this?"
Nope, no secret issues lurking here. Just wanted to point out that David, who is in the UK, got an advanced portion of his pledge because of all the work he has done for them on this game. I'd hate for people to start thinking that normal shipments were landing in Europe already.

All that being said, it would still seem like sometime next week we should start seeing deliveries in the contiguous 48 unless something in the timeline has changed.

OK, seems reasonable enough. Thanks for the reply.

I checked KS earlier today and there are a couple of posts from folks concerned about delivery near or over the holidays. If the product isn't on land by now that may well be an issue I hadn't thought about, especially for our overseas colleagues.
