Nightmoss, so attaching them to the outside edge of the bulwarks instead of the top of it seemed to work okay? Basically just like we do the upper shrouds already then.
Yup, that's pretty much how I did it. I guess the correct term for what I attach them to (on the outside edge) is "Channel"?

    Hello all,

Just purchased this wonderful game, have already painted my starter set. Havi ng discovered this forum and this thread I also wish to do ratlines and stays.

What ratline packs do I need to order to be able to add the m to the starter box ships, a HMS Victory and an Impèrial 1st rate?

    Cheers

Hello and welcome Andrew, the Anchorage Store sells a pack for all the ships in the starter set, but I see they are out of stock. Someone hereabouts can probably give you an idea when that will change. I believe these lads are working on ratlines for 1st rates but they haven't been produced yet. Hopefully they will be forthcoming.

Keith is in charge of the Anchorage Store and while we're all interested in seeing a restock of the older ratlines, along with new ratlines for the First Rates and USS Constitution, a lot will depend on demand/supply. It's really up to Keith and what he wants to invest in stock that may or may not sell?

That being said you can use the ratlines from Langton's for many of the Sails of Glory ships. The photo of the USS Constitution above used the 3D brass ratlines from Rod Langton. Other sizes can be used for the existing ships without too much hassle. If you search some of the photos here you'll see various examples of this as well as those who have used the Anchorage Accessories ratlines. Cheers!

You may have to wait if you order just rat-lines from Langton's. He is finding it hard to for fill his orders of rat-lines. Rat-lines ordered with his ships take priority.

Ratlines for the first 4 ships, Wave 2 ships, the Connie and Vic are all coming. The company that makes them is about two weeks out from looking at my new designs (for the new ships). So, I'll have the old ones restocked and the new ones ready for order in about 1.5 months.

Call me lazy, my apologies; but is there a list of which ships are in which series for ordering the ratlines?

I've looked and am confused. Could anyone be so kind as to list them, ie what is in 100,101,102,103 & 104 so I know which ratlines to order for which ships, please.

Neil, look at the SGN# on the box the ship came in, i.e. SGN104C the HMS Zealous, HMS Superb = Keith's ratline # 104.

I know that will be a problem once we start to Ratline, but I will worry about that once it happens.
My problem is that I insist on ship, cards and base being in the same slot assembled for instant use.

Speaking of ratlines, has anyone come up with the best way to paint them without clogging up the tiny openings at the very top? Even when I dry brush, the dullcoat (spray) still fills in the very top openings.

    Ed,
I just paint them. Start at the top and work down. If you get paint in the gaps just keep drawing the brush down the rat-lines. The paint will clear the gaps as you work down them. They can look a bit like a cross-word as you work. the clogs will work down the rat-lines. Once clear do not re-do just work down-wards

Has anyone tried gunblack to color them? You know, the acid that stains muzzles? My dad uses it on brass in model railroading.

This should be good, as I remember there are a number of brass staining chemicals that are thin and not likely to clog or thicken the lines, I also wonder about candle soot? May not stick well . . .

Another project for this weekend (or next). I know I have some somewhere. I use to blacken case bottoms when I drilled out primer holes in .38 cases for shooting wax bullets so the primers wouldn't blow back.

Thin black paint. Any clogs a gentle blow through clears before the paint drys.

There's only ratlines available for the 32 gun ships.

All the ones for 74s are sold out and have been for a year.

I'm eagerly awaiting not only the new ones but also a resupply.

Apparently only one guy at the company that makes these for me can discuss this project with me. And apparently, he travels a lot and apparently can't receive or answer emails while traveling It's all very frustrating. The last info I had was to try contacting him again around the 11th of this month.

So the update is no update guys :(

    Keith,

I wanted to check in on this, is the work on these officially dead? I have some of the originals, somewhere (the byproduct of two moves)....but wanted to get some additional ones for my ships? I was also hoping we'd get other waves done.

Can't say I'd blame you if you gave up on doing these, they seem like they are a lot of work, but then again, they are the most beautiful lines that you can find as well. I'm thinking of doing a bunch more ships, and really wanted to use your ratlines, so I thought I'd revisit this thread.

    Thanks,

    Ryan.

    Hi Ryan.
Keith still has the ratlines for set 101 and 103 in stock if that is any help.
    Rob.
The Business of the commander-in-chief is first to bring an enemy fleet to battle on the most advantageous terms to himself, (I mean that of laying his ships close on board the enemy, as expeditiously as possible); and secondly to continue them there until the business is decided.

    Hey Rob,

Yep I saw those (I really wish I could find the ones I have as I have enough for probably 6 frigates and 6 74s). Since I'm contemplating adding the ratlines, I'm at that inflection point where I really need to make a decision - go with Keith's (my preference) or go with Langton (the substitute). To get a uniform look, once I go down a path, I'm married to it to a degree (and we all know, divorce is expensive). I'd really like to go down the path with Keith on this one, but will need to probably get at least 6-10 74s, plus stuff to fit wave 2,3,4 ships where the existing sets can't be made to work.

So my question really boils down to...what do we think the long term plan is here? I could always get some frigates underway now, but I'd be unhappy if I never got the opportunity to keep the look going with the 74s and even first rates. Maybe some forum member has a hoard ratlines for the third rates laying around they are willing to part with! If so, please hit me up....

    Ryan.
