On 19 July 1812, the Frigate Constitution, under the command of Captain Issac Hull, escaped from the British squadron under the command of Captain Philip Vere Broke after a three day chase off New Jersey. Constitution’s crew utilized a combination of good luck, good seamanship, and hard work. In the near-dead calm, Hull warped ship with boats and anchor and wet sails to catch every breeze. Though the British copied his moves, he managed to outdistance them.

What a wonderful experience Steve. If there was one ship I could tour, she would be it.
