Tall Ships? I had hoped to make it, but that ends up being a ridiculously busy time period for the family so I am not going to be able to make it. I am, however, trying to fit ROCK CON onto my calendar. (Seems may not be in our hands by that time, but I'm interested in checking our some WoG.)

Keep your fingers crossed for Rock-Con. I am slated to run SoG on Sunday morning. It will be nice to meet and play WoG at the minimum; a lot of good folks from the 'Drome will be there.

The Lady Washington and Hawaiian Chieftain are moored in our harbor currently. It's always wonderful to see such vessels still in action. The Lady Washington was in the first episode of the Pirates of Mickey Mouse Movie.

I've not been on an age-of-sail ship yet. The more I read, the more desirous I become to tour one. I would love to see a crew in action working the sails - very fascinating.

I've been fortunate to have been on HMS Victory and the Cutty Sark (before it was severely damaged by fire) but clearly these were museum ships without working sails and crew. I'm not sure how I would go at sea actually

I was really lucky one weekend. Galveston has the Elissa docked there. It's a three masted cargo sailing ship from the very end of the whole era.

It's not just fully functional, they take it on a long cruise once a year. One weekend I took mom to the Strand and it was the weekend before the annual cruise. The crew was doing man overboard drills and all the sails were out as they were practicing working with them. Those ships look so damned impressive when their sails are deployed.
