    Cool Trafalgar: Gilding the Gingerbread.

The Battle of Cape Ortegal was the final action of the Trafalgar Campaign, and was fought between a squadron of the Royal Navy and a remnant of the fleet that had been destroyed several weeks earlier at the Battle of Trafalgar. It took place on 4 November 1805 off Cape Ortegal, in north-west Spain and saw Captain Sir Richard Strachan defeat and capture a French squadron under Rear-Admiral Pierre Dumanoir le Pelley. It is sometimes known as Strachan's Action.

Nice info Paul. This is the size and type of battle that would work with the ships currently available in the first wave from SOG.
I will add this to the list of scenarios I would like to try.

    This is definitely doable.

Victory conditions would need to be set rather vigorously given the lopsidedness of the two squadrons. The British could receive points for capture, less for sinking, and lose points for French escapes or British sunken ships. Based on the number of points at the end, The British side would either have some degree of victory or a loss.

Nice pointers. Good ideas for scenarios, too.

This would make an excellent scenario for SoG. I have seen it used with several other rule sets, especially as an introductory scenario.

    Scenario thoughts...

    British score only two ways:
    -Capture of Franco-Spanish ships
    -Destruction of same

Franco-Spanish gain a third way to score:
-Exit ships off the map edge opposite the British fleet.

I would set this up with either three maps joined on the long sides, or four in a 2x2.
--3-map scenario: British start at outside edge of Map 1, Franco-Spanish start at Maps 1/2 join
--4-map scenario: British start on one adjacent pair of short map edges, French start on the centerline of the field.
